When it comes to succeeding in the business world, many Brits now rely on more than just their business skills. It seems, rather, that countless people across the UK are also depending on an appealing appearance to get them ahead.

In a recent study carried out in the UK, nearly 63% of women and 83% of men surveyed believed that appearance plays a significant role in getting a job, a promotion, and even new business clients. What’s more, about 11% of those who were surveyed said they would consider having a cosmetic procedure done in order to gain a more competitive position in the job market; five per cent said they had already done so. Out of all types of procedures people could have done, most – 73% of those surveyed – said they would consider non-surgical treatments, such as teeth whitening. In fact, about one in four people said their teeth were the feature they’d prefer to improve most.

So, why is the idea of teeth whitening appealing to so many people – especially those in the business world? To begin, it’s a quick and simple way to make a big difference to one’s appearance. Teeth whitening also doesn’t require the recovery that many cosmetic surgery procedures would, as it’s a non-surgical, painless procedure. As far as why the procedure is seen as a career booster, many feel that it improves self-confidence and enables better performance with presentations and clients – not to mention when interviewing for jobs.

However, despite the many that said they’d consider a procedure – like teeth whitening – to boost their career, the biggest obstacle for most was an assumption of high cost. Many assume that such procedures are out of their budget – especially during the economic crisis – and therefore end up overlooking them altogether. However, there are ways to enjoy cosmetic procedures, without breaking the bank. Some procedures – like teeth whitening – will be more affordable, simply based on the nature of the procedure. Regardless of cost, cosmetic procedures often come with the option to pay in instalments. The best way to determine whether or not a procedure is within your price range is to go in for a consultation, get an estimate of cost, and discuss potential payment plans. In doing so, you could ultimately discover that your dream cosmetic procedure is, in fact, within easy reach.
